Ok, South Korea is just wierd. Shows you what a slightly different culture takes as OK.

Kansas is just wierd. Thankfully KU is proving to be quite liberal, even if some of our profs are a little outspoken. But that's is why tenure is a good thing.

Too bad tenure isn't truly a bullet-proof shield - prof's are still let go for such things as committing crimes, and even for tarnishing a University's image (as was seen a while back at UND).

Sounds like a professor I would have liked to have had - the outspoken ones who still have a mind of their own are always the best to learn from!

Tenure ain't bulletproof, but it sure as hell helps when you piss on the "fundies" of Kansas. Being at KU and getting the backing of a university that is pissed off about this ID nonsense helps to. I'm just sad that I can't take silly classes as a grad student. Maybe if it is offered over the summer (planning on taking a couple of classes to keep myself paid).
