The Day After a Concert

I'm tired and lazy today because we didn't get home until 1:30 last night, and yet I didn't manage to sleep in much today.

Last night, Lawnchair and I drove over to Salina to meet his parents and watch his favorite band, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. It was a fun concert, with lots of playful showing off of skills by the band. Because of the season, a number of the pieces were Christmas music medleys.

And there was the reason I wanted to go to the concert - Alash. They're a group of four Tuvan throat singers currently (well as of last night) touring with the Flecktones. I've wanted to see throat singing ever since I heard of it, but it is even more awesome live. And it isn't just the novelty factor - it is beautiful.

Cheap Toys for the Solstice

Lju and Bear are playing with a small twig that Lawnchair brought in to burn in the fire place. Lju keeps getting the twig, so Bear goes back to the wood pile for more smelling. Grep is watching the fire from Lawnchair's lap, while Grok just sits looking smug.
