Yes, I Should Learn
Mar. 31st, 2006 02:06 amHave you figured out I hate writing papers? I am really good at pushing it off to the last minute. Which means I went to bed at 9, and woke up at midnight and expect to write through the night. And it will not be good. 8 pages double spaced, with bibliography, if I'm lucky (I have 1.5 pages writen so far, though I haven't done the double space magic yet, I like to save that for the home stretch to encourage myself).
So further break (thank god for midnight to five BBC on KCUR), I shall talk about house hunting.
lawnchair and I went back to it after we got back from our trip, cruising the duplex districts of town for numbers. I called about 8 number Sunday and Monday (
lawnchair was traumatized by managing a scuzzy call center as a nerdy high school student, and seems to think people respond better to a female voice. I enjoyed my call center job, since I was solving problems instead of selling or polling, and am naturally.. chatty). Struck out on all but 1 due to cost, cats (some people think that four cats are more damaging then one large dog or a child), or time (open now). We toured the 1 on Tuesday, and liked it and the landlord. She's an anti-Peter, willing to trade less pet fee (she normally charges by the pet, which gets ridicoulous at four) for mowing. It had a huge bedroom, which was attached to the bathroom. There's also a seperate toliet downstairs, which is nice so Tom can do his business while I'm soaking. The lawn is a bit exposed. We picked up applications (which we both have to fill out, due to our lack of marriage). We got some more numbers, but struck out on all of them. Also, Tom put up an ad on Larryville.com. Well, today (before we handed in application), he got a response from an ex (roomate/girlfriend, no one is really sure) of
lawnchair's coworker/friend Dan (they went to bars together when I was gone). She's planning on moving to Tongi, and wants to rent out her house. Great place. A bit small, but in the neighborhood we want (East Lawrence, cute tiny houses, a block from the edge of town). Has a garage, and more porches than I thought possible. Adorable. A bit more expensive, but still in our price range. I so hope it works out. We're trying to get to see it this weekend, and get a lease signed soon as possible (maybe avoid the whole application fee issue as we have personal references). It might also help with the whole July 31/Aug 1 issue if she moves early. If not, the shed we have used before to store belongings in during the gap (Dan's...) is only two blocks away. Oh, please!
After driving past said house, we went shopping. Aldi's, for more cheap feta (wiped them out of it) and Goodwill. I actually found pants that fit. Tightly. Apparently I fit in smaller pants than I thought I did. I have a butt (I am still surprised when I realize I'm girl shaped, OK). One pair are blue plaid. I'm wearing them today (I can be crazy, I don't teach on Fridays), with a cute (but A&F) shirt that requires an under tank top due to extreme cleavage showing and thinness. I have discovered my fourth color, blue (after black, army green and purple, which make up much of my wardrobe (not wardroom, as I tried to type).. baby steps). I may have to keep my hair blue to match my cool pants (they are a bit long, and thus require I wear my clunky heel boots).
