Busy Body
So, like usual, I did not get much done this weekend. Did see my Peterson grandparents, which was fun. It had been way to long. They drove as far as St. Joseph, so Tom and I drove up Friday night, and came home Saturday. I have now seen much more of St. Joseph. Interesting, because you can tell it was once a much more important town, but nothing special now. Lots of empty, condemned large houses and warehouses.
About a week ago, one of my hardcover shelves tipped. Tom helped fix it, with the idea that I would finish organizing the paperbacks. Which I did. I need to find a reason for me to own all of these. It is beyond ridicoulous. But I don't want to get rid of them, because I have periodic urges to reread some of them. But I did discover that two of the books I had bought to "finish out the series" I already owned.
Also cooked another soup. Well, cut up stuff, put it all in the crockpot, and forgot about it until Tom reminded me (thankfully he'd been stirring it for me).
New Roots Soup
4 potatoes
2 parsnips
1 carrot
1 onion
1 celery root (bought for a pot pie I don't seem to be making)
Cut vegetables
2 bullion cubes
1/2 tablespoon minced garlic
pinch salt
1/4 pint of old half and half (time to get out of the fridge)
1/2 cup milk
1 can evaporated milk
1 can water
Put all in crockpot. Forget for several hours. Realize milk has curdled, but it smells wonderful. Use handheld blender to blend some solids. Tastes wonderful. I have lunch for this week.
