affrecaI am getting sick. When I went to the grocery store last night, I was craving juice. Then I slept for 14 and a half hours last night, and don't feel like I slept to much. I love having the time to pamper my body when it is getting sick. I finally woke up when Fred's Tune-up called to tell me my truck was done. It had a problem with the idle air computer. I didn't know I had one, but it sounded like that would be the problem. Yeah!
Tom gave me neat things last night. I finally have a covered cat box. I am not sure if the two munchkins are taking to it or not. I also got humidifier (left by one of Tom's coworkers).
The big news is my next travel plans. Tom signed a contract with a new server co-location company, and they had a deal that if you paid up a certain amount, you got two free 3-day cruises on Carnival. We're still discussing which one to try for (and you have to book 90 days before the cruise), but I am voting for one from LA to Baja, so we can take the train to LA. I've never been on a cruise (though I have used cruise boats as ferries last summer). And despite how romantic it seems, don't expect me to come home with a ring. This is Tom.
Oh, and soup. I used my new pot and crockpot to make Cauliflower Cheese Chowder. The nice thing about the Merc recipes is they are all vegatarian.
1 tsp vegtable oil
1 onion
3 cloves garlic
2 tbsp flour
4 cups vegtable stock or water
1 head cauliflower, cut into small florets (wonderful word, florets..)
2 potatoes, cubed
3/4 tsp salt
Cut onion and garlic. Fry in oil. Stir in flour. Add stock, salt and vegtables. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 20 minutes. Take out half and puree in blender. Dump back into crockpot. Heat at simmer.
1/2 cup milk
1 cup grated cheese
nutmeg
Slowly whisk in milk. Add cheese. Let cheese melt. Add nutmeg (or whatever spices catch your fancy) to taste.
