The great thing about this semester is that I don't have any classes on Fridays. I should be doing other necessary tasks (like I did a week and a half ago), but instead I'm lazy and caught up on my sleep. So I'm currently at day four of the weekend, and starting on household tasks. Most of the weekend was spent in KC, MO, at the Irish Fest. Another good one, though kind of hot. I distracted myself with spinning, and got a ball and a half done. Now I have to figure out what to do with unevenly spun silk yarn. But my spinning is getting better, and I got plenty of looks. As for the music, it turns out I like the Scottish stuff better. Wolfstone, Enter the Haggis and Old Blind Dogs rocked my world (saw OBD all three days, hooyah!). The Cottars were awesome to. Wish Young Dubliners had been there again, though.

Sometimes being a news junkie is depressing. I'm still reading way to many stories about NOLA (got to love the acronyms that are popularized by diaster). I try not to discuss it, partially because I feel bad about the ghoulishness of staring at tragedy. And because some people's ignorance annoys me. Next person who says something about "Why didn't they just leave" gets a boot in the head. Money. Or maybe that the bus station got closed down on Saturday (still trying to figure out why, please comment if you know). And then there was the girl who kept on saying "It's not that bad, only 4 million more expensive than (some other hurricane that I tuned out becuase the urge to deliver the slap of enlightenment was getting to strong)" and then went on to declare "We got so much grief for not donating enough after the tsunami, where are the help from other countries". Ok, lets break that one down - third world vs. first world, and read the f*ing news. Ok, she did say it before Sri Lanka made their offer, but.. I've got to lay off the news.

Classes are going good. Actually, the only trouble in my life right now is money. Don't worry, I am still flush with plenty in my backup account, but some of my expected money has not come through. Both are my fault, and are just delays. Apparently I had to update my address with the bursurs office directly, and so they sent out my extra money to my old address. My really old address. Which would have been fine, except Tom doesn't live there anymore. So, address is updated, and hopefully the post office will return it as undeliverable soon. Ha! The other money issue is my GI money. I thought I had to send something to the VA, but this summer it showed up on my finacial aid package. Confused me went down to finacial aid to ask Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? and was told that I didn't have to do anything, the Veteran's Office handled everything. Umm.. that turned out to be wrong. In fact, I do have to send something, though Veteran's Office will send it for me. I set up direct deposit, so I should started getting money 8 to 12 weeks from now, though pay back from the start of the semester. I decided to put that all in my harder to reach account, and try to save for a rainy day (or trip). Still, a bit of a panic when my checking balence went to under a thousand.

I still love the house, still have to unpack my books. Barry and Grep have gotten very noisy with their dislike for each other. It would help if he didn't chase her around the house. Or was twice her size (as measured the last vet's visit). Or she was willing to walk past him to the food bowl. Or didn't glup down her food so fast she then barfed it back up. Ah, but he is the one with scratches on his face. Thankfully the house is much bigger than Tom's apartment.

Happy note is that I think I'll make Tofu Thai Curry tonight.

The thing I like about you is that you may not update often, but when you do, you don't disappoint. Ah...So I have been really into the news about the hurricane. I read somewhere that FEMA claimed the reason they didn't try send any kind of aid earlier was because they were "unaware of the situation" until Thursday. Uh huh. That was one of the lamest PR covers I've ever heard.
