Really Fall

affrecaNot much exciting to report. I continue to work from home, though I'm contemplating trying for the office soon. Meet new coworkers, gift hats to departing one, if I manage to knit him one.
Getting outside for exercise continues. Last weekend was the two days of hiking at Kanopolis. I managed to be brave and arrange a car pool out there, and got to know one of the hikers better. M is the type of woman who holds down three jobs as a retired woman - manager of shop associated with local outdoors group, clerk at her small town grocery and volunteer firefighter. We agreed that neither of us wanted to drive three hours early in the morning, so we drove out the night before the hiking and camped there. Which turned out to be chilly, around 35F first thing in the morning. I'm confused that I'm fine camping in chilly weather (just add another layer), but my joints hurt when I'm home and the outdoor weather is in the 60s. I ended up doing the shorter hike (5 miles) on Saturday because my guts decided to hate me. I made it to the nice bathroom before anything undignified happened. Sunday I was fine with the longer hike group, and made it 9 miles. I also accidently lead the group on an unplanned short cut, as I was with the front of the pack when we set off (with the guide halfway in the middle of the group because the rest of us were sure that was the path). I did at least stop the front people when we got to an intersection. Also, lots of rocks, mostly sandstone.
