Watching for Santa
Dec. 25th, 2004 12:57 amI got off of work about an hour ago. I'm trying to stay up for a while, so I sleep long in the morning, then can switch to third shift the day after Christmas (less than 24 hours from now). Also, I am trying to keep an eye on my calico, Lou. I came home to find her neck bald and wet. At first I thought it was blood, but I think a large part is salvia from constant licking. It doesn't look good. I hated to leave her to go to work, but it doesn't seem fatal. I brought home Neosporin, but I think she's already licked it off. I read some about such behaviour, and I have two theories. Either she has itchy, dry skin like I do, or she missed me. Barry was here to keep her company, but I don't know. I figure I'll keep putting lotion on her (might look for petroleum jelly tomorrow) and spend quality time with my loved one.
I felt better about work today. It helped that it was slow and I got paid. Ok, I'm making less now that I did in housing allowance (even when I was living in Rhode Island, in fact, I was almost making a bigger profit then that I make wages now). It is money coming in.
Tonight was the night of the quarters. I made change for four different people. One guy bought $20 of gas in quarters, and 10 minutes later someone asked for $20 in quarters to do laundry. WTF? And lotto. People seem to like to give scratch tickets for Christmas, while others were hoping they won in time to buy presents. And then there was the guy I was mean to, because he tried to buy beer without an ID. I sent him home to get his, but warned him he probably won't get back before midnight (the witching hour for us) since it was 11:58. Thankfully TJ was coming in to relieve me (his newborn son is doing just fine) and had no sympathy either. Not on Christmas Eve.
I enjoyed seeing all the family I did. I will call my last branch when they have their get together next weekend, though I can't make it. I will see them someday. Really...
