I'm surprised that I haven't seen anyone discuss the pandemic and the effort for world wide vaccination in relation to Anne McCaffrey's Moreta's Ride and Nerilka's Story. It's apparently the story that shaped my understanding of how it would work. I know we don't have time traveling teleporting dragons, and the science seemed to go to easy for them, but.. it's not like Pern is an obscure series. I guess it is these days, and it's just that I was dragon obsessed at the right age.

I saw a few mentions last year around this time! Perhaps the "seemed to go too easy for them" part has made it less appealing as a comparison since last fall?
