Lemming like, posting
Mar. 25th, 2020 07:55 pmI'm lucky, Lawnchair and I can both work from home. Well, except for the days that I volunteer for field work. My section started a small sampling project to help out another group, and there was a desire sample so we can pull out the temporary wells before they cause problems. I went out one day last week, but we had no progress bailing such tiny holes. So, after the others tried a couple other types of bailers, the decision was made to switch to check valves. Those came in yesterday, and when A. was discussing the schedule with me, I suggested all four of us go out today (when the weather was warm and dry). Drove to the site, tried to stay away from coworkers, and busted it out in less than a day. I'm physically exhausted, but so happy that this method worked after the frustration of last week. And maybe a day outside, chatting with coworkers again. Back to my kitchen table desk tomorrow.
I'm stress spinning. I managed one sock yarn. The second one turned into a 1.5 pound project. Not sure what it will be made into, but I suspect a Night Shift shawl. See, it started with pulling out a hibernating project. While continuing to complain about the roughness of Corriedale, I realized that that bump (4 ounce of top) complimented the Corriedale I dyed at Yarn School, which also went well with the bump of Hello Yarn Corriedale also from Yarn School. A half pound into that idea, I realized that I had two more bumps of Corriedale that could go with it. One was dyed by Yarn Geek, and the other was undyed superwash colonial (which is a nonspecific name, but basically Corriedale). I didn't like the white in the Yarn Geek Corriedale, and the colonial needed to be green to go with the rest, so into the dyepot. Now I'm about halfway through the singles, and I like Corriedale a little better? The first bump was definitely the worst.
After my April spinning conference was canceled, I used some of my refund to buy two fancy spindles and some fiber from one of my usual shops at the conference. I'm trying to keep my buying down, but just found out WisCon is also cancelled. So more money saved for me.
