Sunning Myself
I splished around on the beach yesterday evening. The sunset itself wasn't much, but the reflection over the ocean was amazing. Pink water, just like a corny tropical paradise t-shirt. So I have been reading at the edge of the surf today. Perfect blend of temperatures and sensations.
I called around a bit this afternoon to figure out scuba prices. It looks like the certification is going to be $350 (same at several places) over 3 to 4 days. Which will take up most of my time here. But I really want to. So I will probably stay at this hostel longer and go.
The hostel is obviously a converted hotel. Two buildings, facing a centeral courtyard. There are four bunkbeds to a room, and the bathrooms were once nice, but a bit run down now. All my roomates are guys. Apparently co-ed means mostly guy. Not unexpected, usually only girls care if they are in single-sex dorms. In room kitchens, which is nice. Though I have gone to my travel low intake mode. I have eaten about four times since I left 2 days ago.
Lots of Japanese. I need to find the store that said it took yen, because I found a 1000 ($10) yen bill in my coat pocket on the way here. Lots of Aussies. Makes sense, closish for them, and they enjoy beaches and surfing and traveling (several seem to be in the middle of their round the world tours).
Gotten several compliments on my tattoo. Nice to be in a place I can show it off. And been told I was pretty twice so far, though once was by an old tin can sailor who sat near me on the plane.
