affrecaLawnchair and I put the giant loom together Friday. I started getting annoyed with the discoloration, so cleaned some more with bleach. Then I attacked the worst parts with sand paper. Sadly, the discoloration is not just superficial and the gray wouldn't go away.
Then I went off to a SCA fiber retreat and made a 12-century supportive undergarment pattern for myself. I now want to make a bliaut again. Everyone else is off at Naka.
One of my bobbins came apart on Saturday, so I decided to go buy wood glue. Lawnchair suggested we look at stains and waxes at the hardware store. So I bought a wax to try on the loom and my spinning wheel (which looked sad and old next to the other Traveler this weekend). I liked how the wax worked on the nice portion of the loom, but not on the gray part. It also made the test portion of the spinning wheel look awesome, so I just waxed the rest of the wheel.
Sadly, I have to go to work tomorrow, leaving my poor fiber tools by themselves. Well, unless the snow is horrible. And I've got another fiber retreat next weekend.
