Resolutions
Nov. 15th, 2004 01:59 pmNone of the jobs in the LJW interest me (or I qualify for), so I figure I will justify today for keeping up with the things that make my unemployed life worth it. I should get done with organizing my fiction today. I'm done with "T". For many things, that would mean I was almost done. Oddly enough, a lot of my favorite authors (that I have bought everything by) have names that end in "V", "W" and "Z". I almost have enough room in my living room shelves. The next decision is if it is worth getting another set of short shelves, or but "Z" in the kitchen?
Other activities include learning about distributed proofreading (in support of the Gutenberg Project to make electronic versions of older books for free distribution), studying my fluid dynamics book and writing essays. Ok, I really haven't gotten to writing my essays. I have gotten as far as finding FrontPage on my computer, and not finding any books on HTML. Any suggestions on simple webpage design books and/or software?
Cooked sushi and miso soup with Tonya last night. Made a bit more than we could eat. I have two whole rolls of avocado, cucumber, fake crab and cream cheese and several servings of soup. We also finished off one of my mystery bottles from Japan (turned out to be a really smooth sake). Beautiful bottle. Not sure what to do with it. And two more bottles (blue and green) to open at a later date with someone willing to get authentically Japanese tanked with me.
The news continues to amuse me. A man set himself on fire outside the White House. Even I think that's a bit desperate measure, but one should protest as you feel necessary. On the level of the guy who committed suicide at the ruins of the WTC. Sad to see the left has its self-destructive crazies, too.

HTML Book
Date: 2004-11-17 03:44 am (UTC)They're entertaining, easy to read and usually well-written.
So I'd advice HTML 4 for Dummies in this case.
As far as software goes, use your favorite editor (be it vi, emacs or notepad) or Dreamweaver (if you really can't do without a WYSIWYG program).
Don't use anything by Microsoft (like Frontpage or Word (yuck) for instance, they just give you bloated HTML code).
