Driving on a New Street
May. 5th, 2010 07:13 pmHad to solve my weaving dilemma on my own as none you all had opinions.
lawnchair's input was to not use the cotton flake, as he has to deal with me as it breaks will winding on the warp. So I had to go down to yarn barn to buy yarn. Except - I couldn't get out of my driveway. My street had been so bad we were on the top of the list for repaving. The shiny new blacktop needed to cure. But the weather is nice and so I biked downtown. Stared at yarn. Decided that the weft is shiny enough I'd get better contrast with non shiny carpet warp. And it was cheaper. Might need more purple though. Another trip tomorrow. I might bike to get exercise though.
ETA: Patterned it out. I'll experiment with the treadling, but think I will try overshot modification where every other pick is the fuzzy or the slubby flake. I will buy another purple cotton warp as I suspect there isn't 750 yards on my current one. And trying not to think about how best to rearrange my craft room.
ETA2: Craft room is reorganized. Now can get to back of loom (and it faces the TV). Harder to sew now with no desk facing the TV,the big desk being blocked by the warping board and the small desk not close to outlets. But easier to weave. And I did it all myself.

Date: 2010-05-06 04:37 am (UTC)(I'm not sure craft room reorganization is done. I want to replace the toybox with more rubbermaid tubs on shelves. Just not sure I'm willing to spend the money for them right now.
