The Vicious Wall
Oct. 19th, 2004 09:59 amI realize I haven't been stressed in a while. I was a bit nervous in Halifax, but not like this morning. It reminds me of the worse days of being in the Navy. I woke up around four, and drifted in and out of sleep until the alarm at six. Then I dressed for my testing. Probably worried a bit more than I needed to. My lucky shirt was stinky, so ironed my other pants and found another shirt. Then I decided to wash the pits of the lucky shirt and dry them with the iron (I really wished for a hair dryer). Poor Tom. "Would you hire me in this outfit?" It is almost as bad as the classic "Does this make my butt look fat?"
The testing was interesting. All computer based. I am not sure how I did in comparison to the other applicants. I think I did fine with the comprehension and decision making sections. I know I answered every one of the map reading questions correctly (Thanks, Mom). The memorizing a phone number for 5 seconds was not so good, as anyone who has given me their phone number can attest. I should hear Friday or next Monday if I have an interview.
I lied about my weight and gave blood yesterday. I am proud of myself. I didn't faint. It took me 15 minutes to get through where outside the U.S. I'd been in the last three years though. None of them were disqualifying, thankfully. It took longer due to the nurse's inability to spell foreign countries, or Navy. She was nice, and I'll admit I didn't know where Bahrain was until I went there.
Went to Tom's office the last two nights to watch Farscape, since he has cable there. Pretty good. Actually, I saw ads for Earthsea, which I really want to watch. I might have to read the books again.
I made 12 more turtles. Half are filled with Amaretto chocolate truffle and the other half with Kahlua chocolate truffle. I am glad to hear that my chocolate when bored habit is older than just me. I occasionally make fudge with the recipe my mom taught me.
