Report on House Inspection
May. 8th, 2009 01:47 pmCurrent dream house was inspected today. We're still interested, though it does need some work/inspection and we will be renegotiating for some of that soon. Fun.
Foundation: House is a split level, with the garage partially buried (looks mostly OK) and a crawl space under the living room. The two far corners have about two inches of movement. Good news is that it is a crawl space, so not as deep to dig. Also, foundation issues don't seem to have damaged the interior of the house. Realty agent is trying to work with foundation people to get us an estimate (for negotiation).
Fire place: the fire place itself is relatively new (I will not rant about builders/seller calling gabbro tiles black granite), but the chimney has issues. Need to get qualified chimney sweep/repair to tell us how much that will cost.
Electricity: Circuit breaker is of a type that doesn't always flip off. There are several outlets with ground issues, several more that need to be swapped.
Gutters: Need to be cleaned out so water isn't running right to the base of the house.

Maybe I Missed the Humor . . . .

Could you explain "Circuit breaker is of a type that doesn't always flip off."?
Or did I just take it too literally?
Bob
