Happy Hunting

Fabric Swap was OK. I got some nice velveteens, got rid of some wool. I still have plenty of stash. Advertise more next time.

I thought my best cooking news today would be about how I turned multiple leftovers (steak and shrimp from Kobe, chicken and carrots from my crockpot) into tasty teriyaki mix. Also, I need to remember to marinade the meat before cooking and eating. But it isn't.

Backstory: waiting for the storm. There is a storm to the west of us. It's a big 'un. But it isn't moving any closer to us, not in the last 3.5 hours. [livejournal.com profile] lawnchair gave into my request to walk around the block, and we found chickens. Free range chickens, but not the free range chickens we're used to seeing. And a pair of ducks. On the way back we chatted with the across the street neighbors (though we knew these weren't their chickens, to small). While chatting, I spotted a morel mushroom. Neighbor gave it to me since I spotted it.

I sauteed it with a butter and put it on top of some french bread. Tasty.

ETA: 9:20 and the storm's finally here. Felt the pressure change in my teeth.

Ugh, I'm so sensitive to isobar movements/changes. I get really bad vertigo and headaches. :p

I do love thunderstorms though.

I got shiny wool!

Advertise more next time is good ... otherwise we will all end up just trading the same fabric back and forth. :D But doing it there was a wonderful idea, and I think it would work great again! Also, the fact that there happened to be a quilt show there today was pretty handy as well.
