I bought some heavy wool for a cloak. I'm going for a mostly full circle cloak (somewhat over 5/6), and playing with patterning. Wool is heavy (melton maybe), so any tips on sewing? I think the pattern is simple enough and the material light enough to not need to be butted. Also, how bad is the twisting with bias to bias seams in heavier material?

Does it seem slightly fulled? For some reason that increases the stretch but decreases the twisting. There will also be less twisting if the edges are identical angles of grain, rather than trying to match a 45 degree to a 30 degree.

Makes sense. It is well fulled, and pattern would be at identical angles. (Good luck today!).

Delayed for a week and a bit :( I think they're torturing me.

I've always had very good luck with bias edges for cloak seams not twisting when I work with wool. Other fabrics, not so much.
