Despite acknowledging the faults of the subgenre (and hating several of the best known examples), I adore epic fantasy series. One of my favorites is George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire. Like most other followers of the series, I've been annoyed with the wait for Book Five. A large part of that is that is not the wait, but the several missed deadlines.
I understand that the series has run away from Martin, and got complex. And I want him to do the best job he can on it. And in this day and age his fans can stalk his progress (yes, I do check his blog from time to time to see if he's turned in the manuscript, because that is more reliable than the amazon release date).
So I'm annoyed that other fans aren't as quietly polite, and waste the man's time and focus on writing him complaints. Keep it in house, people. Or at least with your friends.
So what other authors are you impatiently waiting on?
I'll admit I search for progress on Rosemary Kirstien's fifth book at least once a month (still working on, has full time job according to Boskone reports). I've given up on Melanie Rawn finishing Captal's Tower (also, hated her latest book. I'm not sure if her writing has changed, or my tastes have). I check out Bujold's blog about once a month (still working on the next Vorkosigan).
