Sep. 18th, 2008 12:22 pmAnyone who thinks that lattes are unknown in Alaska has never been there. Coffee shacks everywhere, especially in the Anchorage area. Including random parking lots off of highways 10s of miles from a town.
(I like reading Slate, but they need to learn that you have to be careful describing the hinterlands if you are a coastal elite. My favorite was an article in Slate about lobster prices that claimed "you're unlikely to find live lobster tanks in Meijer stores in Michigan or Wal-Marts in the Ozarks". Canny readers offered up their pictures of live lobster tanks in Ozark Wal-Marts.)
