Minor Frustrations Day
Jun. 1st, 2008 09:45 amPlaying with RIT dye on my roll of linen. Cut off enough to make underdress, and dried to dye it brownish purple. First run through (with 1/2 packet tan and 1 packet purple) was way to pure of a purple for me. So I did another wash of it with 1 packet yellow. To much balancing, so now it is brown. A nice brown, but not the subtle color I wanted. Which might be to much to ask. Oh, and the washing machine isn't completely draining unless I get Mr. Fiddle-With-It to fix the last fix he did.
So I tried to start setting up my inkle loom. I could do cardweaving without it, but I like the portablity factor. Except I can't find a gorram phillips screwdriver, because all the tools got cleaned to the garage. In which I and Mr. Horde-Bikes couldn't find one. Torque head, other random heads, yes. Phillips, no. I thought I had one on my knife, but no. I'm now frustrated, so not worth the bother (though eventually he found one 3 inches long. And I'm sure there's one on my bike tool, which is conveniently stored on my bike, in a nice logical place.) Perhaps I shall follow my mother's example, and have my own tool box. With tools I'm likely to need (hammer, screwdriver. My collection of wire snips and pliers are housed with my jewelry making stuff).
And headache is not leaving. I feel very put upon for such minor things.
EDIT: Apparently 2 boxes blue and 1/3 box wine still is purple. Dark purple, yes... but the sizing washes out nicely, and the linen is nice and soft.
