I keep seeing the meme about everyone being more burnt out than we realize, and holding off from commenting. Just hold on for another 1.5 week, and I'll be on vacation. If I can get myself to finish up the pile of things before I go on vacation. Thankfully, it's a fly/road trip vacation, so it harder for me to consider rescheduling it. Which I need because I chickened out of sampling in 100 F weather, so that sampling got pushed onto another geologist (who was supposed to take over sampling for this site anyway... ).

I my second biggest time suck is the drowning PM. Who I'm trying to keep calm while I play office politics to protect from her own management (i.e. my manager will discuss options about how to set up travel at the end of the year so you can still get reimbursement while hers just says it is impossible. I'll handle the car rental so we can get in the site visit that the customer wants despite us saying that's a bad time). But I really wish she'd quit for her own sake, because she's not going to get the support she needs. (My biggest time suck is my burnt out state).

Road trip. Which is already not the road trip I'd planned thanks to NoCal being on fire. And Lawnchair isn't interested in trip planning until we're there, so... we've got plane tickets and a car reservation (and hopefully a car to go with the reservation). California is a pretty enough state that I really haven't explored much outside the Bay Area (I've only been in the airport and train station of LA) and geology field trips (east of the Sierras).

Trying to decide between a cardigan (the blue mash up spin) and shawl (repurposed five color fade) to take. I cast on the cardigan (simple Harvest with minor variations), but I still like the shawl. Despite being stereotypical gender roles, Lawnchair does most of the driving on our road trips. I offer, but usually somehow don't do any. Also, mountain and coast driving makes me uncomfortable. And city driving.
