Saved from the Fiber Monster
Jan. 16th, 2021 05:30 pmLast week, Neko fished fiber out of my spinning pouch and gleefully brought it to me. I yelled at her and took it from her. It was somewhat disorganized with lots of random dirt stuck in it, but I managed to spin it today. From now on, I won't leave unspun fiber attached the wheel, and it will be double bagged (in a pouch, in the bigger pouch. Maybe that will work. I'm also working on remembering to zip up my project bags to discourage her yarn stealing.
One of the things that still surprises me about working for the federal government vs. state is regular raises. In my seven years with the state, I got two promotions and one raise. And that one raise led to months of listening to my coworkers bitch because how badly it was implemented. While the state had a step system, it hasn't been in use in my department for a long time. With the feds, I got one paygrade increase (after a year, because I technically didn't have the experience for the higher grade when I was hired), annual step increases since then, plus a step increase out of sequence, plus basically annual COLA raises. Goodness, does that all add up. If I'd done the jobs the other way, I'd really resent the lack of raises. But instead, I'm delighted that I got a random 1% pay increase that I didn't even hear about until the paycheck appeared. Maybe I should procrastinate less.
