But I'm out of the habit. For the last several years, I've mostly been using DW to read other people and store recipes (because I'm incapable of following a recipe I've found without changes, but sometimes I'd like to reproduce what works).

Current status is: Married (10 years as of today) to Lawnchair. Gainfully employed by the government as an environmental geologist. Living in my college town in a boring house with four cats: Grok,19 year old dilute tortie matron who gives no fucks; Ljubljana, 14 year old dilute calico who wishes I'd just feed her already; Sophie, 3 year old tuxedo bite happy (though never breaks skin) who I claimed when my coworker went abroad and he's never getting her back; and Maui, the year old spoiled boy of the house (we got Sophie when we realized that the two old girls were not energetic enough to keep him in line and he literally started climbing curtains).

Hobbies: Fiber arts. Currently spinning and knitting, though a history of dyeing and weaving. I'm occasionally active my local guild, but with the influx of new members I'm skipping most meetings. In the past I've done beadwork (and sold some), but nowadays I mostly use my stash for making stitch markers.

Reading: I'm a reading addict. Mostly science fiction and fantasy, but there's some mystery and romance I've enjoyed. I'm ashamed to admit, but I rarely read fiction by men anymore.

Travel: I have itchy feet, and love to see the world. My last trip was a week in Iceland with a pair of buddies, and my next is to the bay area to visit one of them (our whale watching tour was canceled due to high waves, so this is the make up). I don't tend to post much before a trip due to paranoia, and then I forget to post anything afterwards. Currently I'm plotting a road trip in the Pacific northwest and a trip to Mongolia as soon as I have money saved up.

Feel free to ask questions. I know I'm mostly a lurker, but I'd love to let other people get to know me.

Just Finished: The Privilege of Peace by Tanya Huff. One of the few military science fiction I still read. The selling point for me is that it is now about learning to veteran (in other words, learning to use those nifty military skills in civilian situations without freaking out your coworkers). There's a lot of focus on an inclusive military and the cost of seeing companions die. This being a Huff book there's a lot of unexceptional lgbt characters. Fluff, but fluff I need.

I DNFed An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon. A good book, but was not grabbing me. I kind of liked the main character, but at least one of the secondary characters continually pissed me off

Currently reading: Dramatick Rivalry by L. A. Hall is my to go book. I'm mostly reading it on my phone on my commute or during lunch, since I haven't wanted to haul my library books around. I find it low key slice of life. This is several books into the series, so don't start here.

Next Up: Maybe a Geek Girl's Guide to Murder by Julie Anne Lindsey or The Monster Baru Comorant by Seth Dickinson. The Dickinson is a library book due Saturday, but.. I'm not sure I'm in the mood for that.
