Gooooood Morning!
Jun. 23rd, 2010 05:47 amSome people get insomnia. I apparently get early wakefullness, with a side order of raised body temperature. And I wasn't having any luck falling back asleep, so I'm dyeing.
Yesterday's dye project involved painting roving in a colorway I'm calling berrystain (using dye colors called Cranberry, Mulberry, Raspberry, Bosenberry and black). I managed again to use to much water, so the roving turned out pink and light purple. And I had leftover dye.
Well, leftover dye was thrown together in the dye pot with 3 oz of white wool roving left over from spinning class. I was actually patient enough and managed to exhaust the dye. We'll see what color it turns out as when try, but it looks dark purple right now.
About to go into the crockpot next is another 3 oz of leftover white wool with Mulberry and Cranberry. I'm seeing if I can manage multiple colors in the crockpot. What happened to the yellow* makes me think I can.
*The first crockpot run was yellow dye on white wool and blue tencel/wool. The blue bled, leaving small green splotches on the white (now yellow) wool. I think with little enough water the dye shouldn't mix to much.
