Spring Returning
Mar. 22nd, 2010 10:44 pmMost of our 6/7/8 inches of snow has melted. There's a few patches in the shade, but mostly my yard is a giant puddle of mud. Some of it is very nice mud, being the compost we spread around (planned and unplanned) in prep for the garden. I think Lawnchair went a little overboard with the garden patches, so I dug out my Dyer's Garden book (thanks, Sis) as to take over one patch for my experiments.
Planted lettuce in one patch prior to the snow, doubt it will sprout. Planted spinach in another third of that patch today. Also planted some snow peas and onions. Might be a bit early, but I'm getting restless. Lawnchair's trees and asparagus order have yet to arrive. Of course, the garden centers have yet to open around here, so maybe I should be more patient.
Still spinning a good amount. Latest trick is that I've learned how to make three ply yarn. Need to either make a number of scarves or learn how to knit. Or find a knitter who will trade balls of yarn for knitted materials (two balls yarn for one knitted item?). Current project graduates from lilac to grey to blue, with the color changes offset throughout the three plies. First ball looks pretty, second one is half done.
