Moving Update

Brought a load of furniture and stuff in this morning. I've been unpacking/sorting while Lawnchair is dealing with old house and landlord (he wanted to do some cleaning of the rest of the house before she got there). Also brought over Lju and Barry.

Barry managed to find the same corner that all the others had, between a wall and one of the desks that was left behind. Unlike Grep, he wasn't able to turn around. Now that I've shifted the desk over so he could out, he's been wandering a bit. He seemed to be a fan of the garage. I took Lju over to the bed for some cuddling (learned that they do better on the bit of the house that smells like home) and she's now hiding under my pillow. Spent twenty minutes looking for Grep after we brought over stuff and found her on top of the kitchen cabinets. She can make her way down when she's ready.

I've got one bookshelf unpacked (manga/to read/to give away). Also got most of the DVDs on the shelf. Wiped off my wrought iron knicknacks/fountains and they look good on the mantle (for now). Next up is the nonfiction shelves. And cuddling cats.

Blow by Blow

Went to Nebraska Furniture Mart (not actually in NE) for a bed. Was amazed how much a mattress is new, but got one (and not the absolute cheapest, but the slightly more one that they kept trying to tell us was a good deal. It felt right to me). We discussed craigslisting, but I didn't want to deal with hauling it into the house. Lawnchair twisted his ankle the last time he tried to move in a queen sized mattress back when we first moved in together in 2000. Damn it, I'm getting a mattress that has never been used before. And a box spring.

Lawnchair packed up one of his dressers into trash bags this morning when he was over at old place. Neither of us thought of the 'nip slugs he kept with his socks. Bear figured it out (though he did remove the slug without spreading laundry all over. Bear's in a better mood. Tempted to try it with my pillow turtle (Lju is still hiding under my pillow. But she moves around with it ontop of her).
