I am a House Owner

The foundation work is already done. Kitchen is clean, and we're off to go pick up new locks. And lunch.

First Problem Found

And the good news it isn't with the house we just bought. Bad news is my nice Persian rug is ruined.

First things to be moved into the new place are cats (Grep and Grok, other two will come later) and a bed to sleep on for tonight. As we were hauling the bottom futon pad to the truck, I noticed a nasty mildew smell and then found the mildew spot. Decided then not to haul that one to the new place. Went back to the bedroom to check out what happened. Found that the little futon pad was nasty. Pulled it up and found the bedroom rug was nasty, followed by my nice rug (carefully hidden away to be safe from the cats), and the hardwood floor.

Decided to walk away before it all hit (still hasn't). I'm buying a bed tomorrow (we'd talked about it, but I'm sure now.) We're also going over with landlord to document it all (she's going to have to claim this on insurance, if I can find the paperwork I'm going to try to get money for the rug).

Umm.. fuck?
