My cats really love me right now. I have been feeding them the leftover fake crab from Sunday night. And I'm using the kitchen laptop (I don't have the laptop on my lap so there is room for them, though really only one at a time), since they forced me to it (by unplugging my other one, which has battery problems). I am planning on a trip to Cafe Nova to work on my essays. I find it easier to write when it costs to use the internet. It costs to go there, since I feel it necessary to buy chai there, and I have chai fixings at home already.

Newest internet addiction is the distributed proofreading. I signed up for it a while ago, figuring it was one of those projects that make librarians warm and fuzzy (free books, on the internet), but I was having problems getting the interface working for me. I finally found out I'd been trying the wrong link (I needed to click "Start Proofreading", silly me). After I figured that out, it crashed on me when I was trying to play with the viewing options. Silly thing. But, I had better luck today, and have done 8 pages (beginner, easy ones). I got to do the Title Page and Contents for "Field of Clover" (those are tricky pages). It has pretty pictures. I want to download it when it is done. Finally, a vaguely useful waste of my time.

As for cat updates, they continue to be banned from the bathroom unless I am in there in the tub. I figured it had been a few days and they would forget about the fun of rolling all the toilet paper down. They had, but now feel it necessary to drag out bloody toilet paper from the trash can (bloody nose, dry weather).

Yep. I have developed a sick obsession with proofing pages. Thankfully it is just round 1 (the projects are run through two sets of proofreaders, one set who fixes the easy stuff, and another that catches the mistakes and tries to standardize the style) as I enjoy fidgeting around, but not searching for the smallest errors. As I figured I had practiced enough with the beginner projects, I did a couple of pages in a linguistics book about counting. One of my random interests. I sort of want to read it when it is all the way done. Silly me. If I stay interested for a month or so, I might have to list it as one of my hobbies in grad school aps.

Needless to say, the essays aren't being written. I want to get the first round done by Thanksgiving, so I torment random relatives to read them. "Criticize this!" (Because, they never actually seem to criticize anything about my life, which makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong, as I'm in my mid-twenties and unemployed).
