More Alcohol
May. 1st, 2008 03:44 pmFinally filtered and finished the last two liquors that I started steeping back in January. Not that they needed to steep that long (a month would have been enough), but I just never got around to them. Both are tasty successes.
Creme de Vanilla
1 vanilla bean
1.5 c 80 proof vodka
1/4 c water
1/4 c white sugar
1/4 c brown sugar
Score vanilla bean. Steep in vodka for 3 months. Strain out bean. Then run through coffee filter. Heat water and sugars until sugar is dissolved. Add to vodka.
Curacao
1 orange's worth of peel
3/4 c whiskey (I used white horse)
1/4 c honey
Peel orange (don't save white pith). Steep in whiskey for 3 months. Strain and filter. Add honey (heat to mix well).
