Tis the Season

affrecaI love the rituals of travel. Of gathering up stuff around the house. Basic things, and my special implements. Such a luggage, or my toiletry kit, with its travel sized bottles. Wander around the house, making sure I remembered everything. Clothes - check. Books - check. Presents - check. Boarding pass - check. This time I don't have to do the safety check for carry on - I'm taking the bus.
See, home is a 6 hour drive away. It is not worth flying, as my outgoing airport is an hour in the right direction, and the incoming one an hour towards me. I'm sick of driving myself, especially in possible weather. So pay someone else to drive, and the experience. I leave out of the KC bus station so I don't have a several hour transfer in KC, and that's a typical bus neighborhood at midnight. So, dress down compared to flying.
Furthermore, I'm taking the overnight. On the night of the solitisce. I still haven't decided if I shall sleep, or keep vigil. Maybe if I cannot sleep, I can claim it as keeping vigil.
