Off to Bath

affrecaWell, I have been enjoying myself on my little island. Trains! Yesterday I took the old steam train to Port Erin and Castletown. I had originally intended to walk from Port Erin to Port St. Mary, but it was a bit hillier than I expected. So I sat on the beach and read.
Today I took the train to Luxley (known for its 150 year old waterwheel used in the mines). From there I took an old electric train up to the top of Mt. Snafell. Should have done that yesterday when the weather was nice. Today I was a bit wind blown and it was to hazy to see the famous view of all the United Kingdoms (Scotland, Wales, England and Ireland).
I did manage to limit my silly souvenirs. No three legged tie tacks, no tailless cat animals, no books. I have not seen any cats at all, except two in a carrier on the ferry over (and I did not see if they had tails). A far cry from the heyday of Manx tourism, when profiteers cut the tails off kittens to sell to tourists. Despite my deep love of cats and Manx things, I have never been particular about Manx cats. I think it is like Mom's feelings about blue eyed huskies (for every blue eyed husky, there are brown eyed huskies that are killed because they don't fit the narrow mould). The mutation that causes Manx cats to be tailless causes serious gut deformities in its stronger forms. Even normal rumpies often have eating problems. I am curious if the Japanese bobtail has the same problems.
Thanks for all the comments. It looks like I will have about 15 rolls of pictures to show off. And lots of spare change. I am trying to figure out what to do with all my spare change to show it off.
I really don't feel like going back to London. Since Gatwick is so far south of London, I think I will stay my last night in Bath. I have plenty of time to make my 12:30 flight. So I might even try to make it out to Stonehenge on Tuesday.
