On the Isle of Man

To fulfill my long fascination, I have landed on the Isle of Man. Staying at a place in Douglas, the main port. Already scored one brochure of the Tynwald from 1991. Random history. It has an interesting place in Great Britain. Sort of quasi-independent. Sort of where Scotland wants to be I think. Oh, and the actor who played Gimli is from here, so they are the one other place besides NZ to print LoTR stamps.

Your grandmother Nelson's (Joyce) maiden name was Kneen, which I believe they (the Kneen's) came from the Isle of Man. Check the local phone book. Also, Estabrook - which may be English though.

As always, love reading your journal. Wish we could all be with on the Isle of Man. Looking for "roots". Have a safe trip home next week.
