My family recipe (stolen from a cooking magazine, but Mom's been making it for as long as I remember). I got a copy last year, but I can't find it (something I realized after I had ground up almonds). Mom sent me another copy, and I'm posting it so I remember where it is.
Marzipan
1 cup whole almonds or 1 1/3 cup silvered almonds
Through in blender and grind. Occasionally you dump it out and sift out the floured parts, and grind up the rest. Grind until all is flour like.
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 1/3 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons water
Mix in with almonds. (I find it easiest to mix in the sugar first, then the liquids).
2 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Add more sugar. Really. Add in enough water to make it claylike, then add food coloring. Put in mint molds, cool/dry until they peel out, then store. Numm, numm.. Also, insanely sugary.
