Even I Fall to Fannishness Sometimes

I rarely squee about stuff. Or act much like a fan girl. I enjoy what I enjoy, but years of reading obscure genre stuff (or it was obscure, or at least odd to my the people around me) makes me reluctant to go on about anything. Especially since I've rarely enjoyed the stuff "suggested" to me (8th grade reading teacher, I still hate you for assigning me "The Pigman" and some crappy Australian romance. WTF?) as I've either read books by the author 5 years ago (tall, "cool" friend of mine that gave me Redwall in college) or is totally crap, in my opinion (and I know our opinions differ). This continues to anime. I started getting most heavily into anime when I was in the Navy, and watching it myself. Club is fun, but my favorite series are not the big ones (Banner of Stars/Crest of Stars, Full Metal Panic, Gasaraki, Generator Gawl and Utena - yes, I'm a weird girl for liking mecha), so I rarely have people to squee with. Makes me quiet about things.

But.. so I'm watching Avatar (finished the last disc that is out, going to have to find other copies of the rest of season 2). And I love it. Pacing is very anime (serious with funny interludes), though without the Japanese love of panty shots. Romance is there, but very adolescent (as it should be, Aang is 12, and should be flipping between staring at Katara and playing with animals).

And I'm getting all fangirl. I have my OTP - Katara and Zuko. I don't want it to be resolved in the TV show. I have my slashiness - Zuko and Jet. Or threesome. Hm... I refuse to read any fanfic of it though.
