As in a description of the new place I'm living at.

The front yard is small, with grass in only one half. There's a wooden fence in the front, with several small redbuds. The porch is quite sturdy, and we'll hang skychairs in it after the weather cools some. There are bamboo blinds to shade you in the evenings.

The house itself is dark wooden brown. Bits are redder, bits are darker as boards were replaced. The front door is bright green, and has a flower pattern frosted in the glass.

The door enters into the living room which sunny yellow. To the left is my craft desk (the chair is still with Jorge) and my flower floor lamp, with CF bulbs curling upwards for stamens. The floor is honey colored hardwood, but the center is covered by a maroon, green, peach and blue Persian-style rug. On the north wall, my folding couch is centered under the window. The golden loveseat juts out into the room, with my end table as the corner and the coffee table centered in the rectangle of the two couches. Behind loveseat is another floor lamp, two bookshelves, a closet door and some space that hasn't been spoken for. To the right when you enter the house is the doorway to the kitchen. Further along that south wall is the third floor lamp, the TV stand and another bookshelf. The ceiling fan doesn't have a light attatched, hence the number of floor lamps. All in all, it ends up being a very bright and colorful room.

The west wall of the kitchen is painted peach. The curtains that came with the huge window in that wall have a blue viney pattern which echoes the colors and patterns of my kitchen table perfectly. The door on the south wall of the kitchen leads to the side porch. Right of that door is the dishwasher. I would be tempted to work it, except you have to move it and attach a hose to the kitchen sink each time you want to use it. So, it will be moved to the garage, and shelves put there as soon as they are painted, probably with weekend. Following that wall is the counters and sink, with cabinets above. One the east wall is gas oven, a skinny shelf and the doorway to the hall. One the north wall is the fridge. After painting party, we'll but the metal cabinet there. There is room for a second shelf or cabinet if we can one. The blades of the ceiling fan are cobalt blue.

Leaving the kitchen, the first two doorways from the hall are to the living room and the bathroom. The bathroom has a claw foot bath tub. Storage is limited to under the sink and in a bamboo basket drawer thingy that I rescued from our landlord's throw out pile. The floor is beautiful dark green linoleum tiles, while the walls are sage green. My ducky pillow is attached to the tiles above the bamboo thingy. All the towel hangers are behind the door. I didn't like the handtowl holder the landlord had left, so I used the one I bought at the 100 yen store which attaches by a suction cup.

The next doorway down the hall is the laundry room, on the left. It has a long white wire hanging rack and shelf on one side, and the washer and dryer on the other. [livejournal.com profile] lawnchair was very useful and repaired the washing machine turnoff. It is a mess right now, but will be a general storage room. You can get to the living room closet from the laundry room. Also, that is where we put the litter box.

Next, on the right, is the doorway to the bedroom. It is painted olive green, except the west wall and the western 6 inches of the north and south wall, which are baby blue. I don't know why. The other maroon Persian-style rug cover most of the floor. My three black dressers are along the north wall, with a mirror over the center one. My stereo, black shelf and new jewelry box are on top of the dressers. I might paint the jewelry box black someday to match. [livejournal.com profile] lawnchair's white dressers are segregated to the south wall. Two futons are stacked in the southeast corner of the room. The east window is the only one in the house that did not come with blinds or curtains, so we have a grey fleece blanket over it. There is also an AC unit we bought from some poor sucker leaving Stouffer apartments. Small, but much newer than the one we had been using.

The last room is the library. Most of my books will go there, and the media station. It was a boy's room, so it has a space theme. The walls are blue, with stars along the top, above the bookshelves. And the blinds are brushed aluminum. Definately where my space helmet and NASA minatures belong.

So that is my new house. There's a narrow yard along the north with a sidewalk and bare dirt. In the back is big tree, fire pit and garage full of bikes.
