Because I can...

1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.

Nope. Well, my middle name is after the main character from a movie, so I'm told.

2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?

I'm pretty sure I won't have kids. Though it is fun to discuss names of possible children. If I have a son someday with [livejournal.com profile] lawnchair, we've agreed to Vaclaw for a middle name. His family has the more fun family names. But judging from people's reactions to how I name cats, I probably shouldn't be trusted with naming of children (Grep and Grok are perfectly fine names, and great geek tests).

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?

Dillon/Dylan. I'm not sure what spelling was considered. It ended up being used on a parakeet instead. I think I would have liked it.

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?

I don't know. My name has been mine for so long. I'm not even sure if I'm willing to change the last half.

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?

Yes. There are a couple of variations of my first and last names that are equally common and pronounced the same, so I've gotten used to saying, "with a y, and an o" to head such off. I also apparently say my name confusingly, and will get called all sorts of things. I used to keep a list on my cube wall when at Pearson. My favorite was Helen. Two letters out of five ain't bad, right?

I think Grep and Grok are excellent cat names. Mine are Xerxes and Zuul, but I've often thought that Qwerty would make a fine name, as well.
