I'm tired. Actually, it is my own fault. I didn't do much school stuff this weekend, so I got up at 4 to make my presentation for class. Yeah, the one that's worth 20% of my grade in volcanology. The one based on sucky paper (which needs to be revised.. someday). Have I mentioned that I am a powerpoint goddess. Yeah. While presentation was only 20 min, I got told by both profs (Walton's teaching, Stockli's sitting in since he's leading our field trip) it was good job. Oh, and I've futher refined my background.. two shades of dark blue, shading to the ligher one in the lower right corner. Subtle, but pushes along the attention. Very picture filled, a couple of mine (two of Crater Lake and one of Hakone). Could have been more about specific calderas, but I think I did well controlling my need to rush.

Then class. [livejournal.com profile] lawnchair was his usual wonderful self, scanning in the figures I needed, smiling as I ran through the presentation looking for errors (like visibility of captions.. oh, and for pictures from the web I labeled them, and had the website in small print). And then I forgot my physics notebook, and he ran (biked) home to get it for me. Because I got two out of the three physics problems. Most of our problems have trickies to them, and sometimes the tricksies are.. tricky (geek time - so one was actually assigned for Friday, and had to do with how the relativistic transformation gamma can be writen as a hyperbolic cosine and velocity times gamma as a hyperbolic sine, thus x and t can be transformed like a rotation, but a hyperbolic one. I was the only one who got it by Friday, but the class asked for an extension. Basically, with cosine the hypotenuse is sqrt(a^2+b^2), so cosine is a/(sqrt(a^2+b^2)), but in hyperbolic the plus is a minus.. set a=1 and b=velocity (in units so c is 1).. neat, eh? the one I didn't get was how energy and momentum transform the same as time and x.. It takes squaring the relativistic Hamiltonian, and setting m^2 as a constant.. which is should be unless you are stuck with the normal defination of momentum.. Yes, I love this class, I'm just not sure I'll end up with a passing grad). Oh, and he left me a Valentine (one of the box that was hidden throughout my books) and a Cadbury egg. Remind me to go to the dentist, chocolate is becoming painful. Anyone able to explain why? I do not need my teeth to be the narwhale tusks of sweetness.

Field trip was good. Getting students to climb is easy in nice weather.. getting them to look at rocks.. Not so easy. Two more trips tomorrow, because I owe Sarah, and her medication makes her dizzy.

Now waiting to deal with study session. Want to sleep, but can't.
