affrecaTired. I decided to cook some of the filo dough I had in the freezer. And instead of just cooking baklava, I decided try three new recipes. I made mushroom triangles and krass (greek spinach pastry) from my Joy of Cooking book (thanks Mom and Dad, one of my favorite Christmas presents ever, everyone should get one when they move into their first place). Nummss. First time I've used shallots, and I'm glad I did, and didn't just use onion. Nice subtle taste. And I'm glad that I enjoy cooked spinach. So good (and good for my iron content, even though I didn't give blood as scheduled Friday due to the flu). I also made a raspberry tart using the recipe from the back of the filo dough box. So rich. Very decadent with a cup of cappicino (finally bought some fresh coffee since the steamer is working again). I feel so very capable. And Tom's washing the dishes as thanks.
So I'm in the mood to bike more. Partially because I've been pushing myself to bike all the way to the top of campus, and it's actually hurts less than stopping to take the elevator because I have a cooloff period before I stop biking. And reading a new blog makes me jealous. I need to bike everywhere. Except to Perry, we needed the truck to bring back a trailer Tom bought, to make moving easier. So we biked a bit yesterday (downtown and back), and 12 miles today (out to the country, and to world market for almond paste for the tart).
Related, I think I've decided where I'm going for spring break. I found out the volcano field trip is not over spring break, and I do not need to enroll in another class to go on it. So I'm going to cross off state number 49, Georgia. Plan is to drive out (possibly rent, it's still cheaper than two plane tickets). There's a rails-to-trails route from Atlanta to Anniston, AL, and a train back. And maybe drive down to the coast, and see Savannah (which is about 4 of the 1,000 places to visit before you die, according to the book). Hopefully we can stand eachother for that long. Anyother suggestions about stuff that away would be appreciated.
