I'm bored and it applies to me... Thanks Doom Mistress...

1. How many books do I own?

A few. About 250 gallons of paperbacks (I know because I just moved, and I pack my paperbacks in 10 gallon rubbermaid tubs and there were about 25 of them), about 200 hardcovers and 2 shelves of nonfiction. I now have a room for a library, which I share with my housemates (they have stuff on one wall). I have a problem. I am considering weeding the collection, but I am not that strong. I did weed the nonfiction somewhat during this last move.

2. Last Book I Bought:

Raven's Strike and When Demons Walk by Patricia Briggs. She's currently on my top 25 author list, and annoyingly has few books out. At least she writes a decent pace, so this should be remedied. Unlike some other great authors (Joan Vinge, C.S. Friedman).

3. Last Book I Read:

Kris Longknife: Deserter by Mike Shepard. I have no taste. I admit it. This was a fun, silly war sci-fi romp. If you like some of the early Elizabeth Moon's Family Space novels. And I so wish I could have gotten away with some of this crap as an Ensign and JG. But I'm not a princess and fictional.

4. Five Books That Mean A Lot To Me:

Ditto to the DoomMeister.. Wow what a question.

Pern, the entire series. I haven't read a Pern book in years (or even any Anne McCaffery books), but I reread them every six months for years in elementary and middle schools. I wanted to go there so bad and have fire lizards. Or just have fire lizards. Now I have cats. Who don't fly, teleport or breathe fire, but I love them anyways.

The Shattered Chain by Marion Zimmer Bradley. One of the first adult science fiction books I read. Quite adult really. No wonder I'm a feminist.

Silent Tower/Silicon Mage by Barbara Hambly. Classic technology saves magic world book. Thankfully Tom is not as mad as Antryg, but sometimes...

Intergral Trees by Larry Niven. Which I read long before I knew what an intregral is. Or what a silly pun that is. Another book I read early in my reading life.

In Conquest Born by C. S. Friedman. I still remember being hunched down in the back of the Fiesta, curled around boxes, reading it. Which is amazing because I get carsick when I try to read while riding in cars. But it was to good. I might have to reread it again.

I have been known to read books other than science fiction or fantasy. Once in a while. I even have Hambly's latest mystery in the queue.
