Making Progress

affrecaFinished hated task, and after a day and half of foot dragging, finally finished long ignored task. I started on next annoying report, though didn't do as much as I could have. I did reach out to new PM so I could show her a couple of useful state databases. Partially because I'd like to get her skills, partially because I like teaching the newer people the easy stuff and partially because I've got my eye on promotion.
See I had an interview last week for a job/promotion that I didn't necessarily want. The job would have involved coordinating "innovative technology" which isn't my strong suit. I mostly applied for practice, because the job/promotion that I feel more qualified for will be opening later this month or February. I haven't worked on my resume in four years, and I really don't have that much experience interviewing. I was therefore not surprised that I did not get the position, but I think the choice they made was brilliant. I know they interviewed four candidates, all internal and I know who two of the three are (and suspensions about the third). I sat down for a debrief with two of the three on the committee, and got good input (and compliments). One of the things I want to make sure I have are concrete examples of the expected tasks, like mentoring newer hires on technical things (I think the PMs need to know the basics of the technical because then they are able to answer more of their own questions).
I don't know why I want a promotion. I make more money than I need, and am fundamentally lazy.
In other news, I'd love to be spinning today, but my wrist is oddly sore. I'm on the last ply of a large (3 pound) project, but I just got in fiber that already makes me want to knit a specific pattern. But I don't have enough bobbins empty for new project.
