Bruise Colors
Mar. 8th, 2021 07:47 pmAfter finishing a purple and grey shawl, I have started on a cardigan in.. purple and grey. Normally I would expect to be be wanting to spin and knit greens this time of year, but I guess not this year. Maybe when I start seeing the grasses start to grow. Both yarns are wool, silk, flax blends with similar values and I ended up with roughly the same length of yarn, so I want to use them in the same project. I could not find a colorwork or stripe pattern I like, so I decided to see how it would look if I alternate yarns every other row. I made some samples, and they blended well even in the cable pattern. The pattern I picked is River's Edge, a raglan cardigan with an elaborate cable pattern down the back. The tricky part is going to be that half the increase and cabling rows are actually going to knit on the wrong side. I've already had to frog back six rows because I got cables going the wrong directions. So not drunk knitting. I also started a basic pair of socks for that.
However, my current distraction project is backpacking. I signed up for the beginner backpacking trip with Dirty Girls for next weekend. I have wanted to backpack (in the hiking/camping sense, my style of internation travel is "backpacking" including the three months through Europe right after I outprocessed), but have never gotten around to it/not had a backpacking buddy to encourage me (Lawnchair is so duckfooted. While he has hiked with me, I'm more likely to be on a bike with him. We have camped with the gear on our bikes when we were younger) Weather is not looking ideal with lots of rain, but I will pack my rain gear. I'm also considering making sure I pack enough snacks that I can eat without cooking, though I'd still like to make something warm for my meals if at all possible. I'm starting to look for a local hike buddy. It might be the change in weather, but I just want to be outside.
Work is work. I continue to fight my procrastination while feeling like a fraud.
