Winter is the Hardest Time of the Year

My post-work internet immersion was saddened today by the news Anne McCaffrey passed away yesterday at the age of 85. I can't express how much her books meant to me as a child/young teenager. There was a point in time when I would read any book about dragons, but hers were the best. I reread them faithfully every six months. They were some of the first books I hunted down in used bookstores and bought the new ones in hardcover. Some of her worked has aged well for me, but I remember how it made me feel. I took Dragonsong off the shelves tonight to read, as was short enough to finish in a single bath. Now I wish my cats were fire lizards. Thank you, Dragon Lady.
