Nothing Much

affrecaShould have gone biking this morning, but Lawnchair was distracted with laundry and I forgot. A lazy day of putzing with stuff instead.
*Dyeing with walnut. After a few days of soaking, I strained out the walnut shells, added iron mordant and wet the yarn/fabric. I'm dyeing four oz of my handspun yarn (to weave trim with) and a scrap of wool fabric (to make bias binding for the dress). Color seems to be dark brown. Hopefully close enough to black to look cool.
*Sewed outside. I'm on the last seam of the viking dress, only slightly behind my schedule. I should be able to finish by next Saturday. There's bits I'd like to fix, but I'll leave them for if I have time.
*Wrote some on my written exam for the second interview. I'd sketched out what I want to say yesterday, so this was trying to put it into sentences. Next pass is to reorder sentences so there's decent flow. Or something.
*Went to buy a leaf blower/vacuum. I've discovered that 4 maples plus giant oak means my front yard gets buried in leaves (and the oak and one maple are still mostly green). I don't actually enjoy raking, so we bought a toy. I feel silly.
*Picked green tomatoes. First frost was this week, so should pick them before they go bad. If I'm ambitious today I'll make some green tomato crumble.
*Also, dug up a turnip. Lawnchair through out a packet of seeds as the weather got cool, and they did well. My turnip was about radish sized, but I didn't dig it up for food. Apparently the Manx have their own version of Halloween, called Hop-tu-Naa. Instead of pumpkins, they carved turnips. So I decided to honor my Manx heritage (in the range of 1/64th), and carve one. And I have a handy source. Or I wanted to confuse my neighbors.
Time to put away my clean clothes. And maybe watch the World Series.
