Ok. Not well read. More would be bolded if I included the books I didn't finish. Most that are bolded I read as a teenager, desperate for something to read. I apparently have no taste.

Or L'Engle. I still don't understand why "A Wrinkle In Time" doesn't go on any of the "required reading/essential library" lists. It's much more influential and approachable than most of the sci fi they usually try to shoehorn into the ya category. And yeah, that includes Starship Troopers (shoot me for the heresy).

Yes, exactly. All of her Murry family series (Wrinkle, A Wind in the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, Many Waters) were some of the first sci-fi books I ever read, in grade school, and they blew me away, as they do now in my mid-30s.

Unfortunately, this list seems to suffer from a huge surfeit of Philip K Dick, whose writing I can't stand and who reminds me very unpleasantly of my ex, who lionized the guy. :/
