Second: cat urine is a pain, and not a lot can be done, especially with leather. If it can handle it, 1 to 2 parts vinegar to water, and a healthy amount of baking soda thrown in.
If the item can't handle the above, then febreeze can sometimes work . . .
I'm reluctant to run a dehumidifier because the basement is open to the rest of the house (so the cats can get to their litterbox), and I'll just be dehumidifying the whole house and the outside. Trying to increase air flow and see if that helps.
As for the leather purse, I tried wiping it down with Nature's Magic. That didn't help, as the pee soaked all the way through the leather. As the pee was mostly on the handle, I cut that off, figuring a handle is reasonable to replace (might actually have a use for my card weaving). I might try fabreeze, for both the purse and the basement.
