Thanks, everyone. The videos were all great. I may have to find a Shaun the Sheep to live next to my loom (though I'm boggled by something I discovered in my research about Shaun. Apparently Shaun is a homophone to shorn in some accents. Wacky as leaving eggs out of the fridge).

I feel closer to human today. I have yet to fail at cups (which I did yesterday. Twice). I have discovered that curry noodle soup is great for illness - warming and tasty. Which is good because I have spinning class Saturday, and WisCon next weekend.

Garden looks well*. Going to harvest my first strawberry today. Cauliflower soon.

*Except the apples trees. Something nipped the top of them, though they might survive. We'll give them the summer to see. The nip is surprisingly high, and after consultation with my father, I suspect it was deer. Deer! Which left the rest of the garden (except the spinach) alone. The apples and the peach now are surrounded by chicken wire fences.

I'm glad you're feeling slightly better! I am too, thankfully. :) I just planted my strawberry patch ( I just got out to the ranch a few days ago), but I had purchased some more mature plants, so they already have flowers and some green fruit on them. I can't wait! (Hopefully the campers and other staff will leave some for me!).

Um - how could it NOT be? How else would you pronounce Shaun? That's the whole joke, right from the original Wallace and Grommit film...

I think it is a difference in how midwestern Americans pronounce shorn. We still pronounce the r.

Shaun rhymes (to me) with prawn, fawn, and pawn while shorn rhymes (to me) with warn, corn and porn.

I tried to decide whether or not I pronounce the 'r' - I think pawn and porn are almost homophones in UK English - and both have something of an 'r' in them. Only in broad Scots would there be any noticeable difference, I think - the 'r' would be more noticeable in some of the words than others.

This is why, of course, puns don't always travel well!
