First Thing First : I am Fine

Car is mostly fine. Insurance will go up (I was at fault), but otherwise getting off fairly affordably (hopefully car is as fine as it looks). Now maybe you all will take me seriously when I say I'm a crappy driver.

Also, teeth are clean and dentist office is nice even though they want me to visit them again.

Day can start getting better now.

I empathize with non-driving. I'm not a crappy driver, but I grew up in NYC and didn't learn to drive 'til I was 35, just AFTER a very bad accident in which I was the passenger and got significantly rearranged, and resultingly I'm phobic...which I think has the potential to make me fail at crucial moments. So I prefer not to drive. And many people, including my family and husband, treat that state as though I've volunteered to have no legs or admitted that I make stew out of Shinto babies.

Some people are just not drivers. And that's not a crime or a failure of character.

Thanks. Externally it is confined to the headlight area. It is making a few weird noises when driving - but hoping that is just liner onto wheel. We'll see if it goes away after the panels are straightened. Engine compartment looks fine - but what do I know? We'll take it to Fred's (our primary car guy) after the headlight is fixed.

Yes. Plus the added guilt of if being my fault. But my car repairs look to be reasonable, and no one was hurt (well, my knee is bruised but that could have been anything yesterday as grace is not my strong suit).

Am still interested in a Jo-anne's run if you are. How'd interview go?

Thanks. I got my license at 17, and then used it once in the four years I was in college (much to Lawnchair's despair the year we lived together as I expected rides). I finally got a car while living in Rhode Island (great place to get practice), but then took off for two years to Japan where I didn't bother to get a license (I miss that train system). I've gotten more comfortable (having a tiny car helps), but I'd still rather be the passenger. I just don't want to get to the point where I'm afraid to at least drive around town, because the Lawrence bus system sucks (unless you're trying to get downtown or to campus).

Also, I need to get a job. I'm hoping for something in town (which I could bike to) or something near JCCC (which is in the KC metro area but has frequent buses because lots of students commute via bus).

Thankfully, Lawnchair and most of my friends understand my lack of driving desire. Plus, I find car trips more fun with people around - so they might as well do the driving.
