Today's trip out of the house was to the bank. Lawnchair and I took the giant cup of change to get counted. $110 to the household fund. Special coins included random Canadian coins including a twoonie (I suspect from Lawnchair cleaning his parents' car), a twopence and a silver quarter. The silver quarter is interesting because it isn't an old coin - its a Nevada state quarter. Someone must have broken up a proof set and it got into change at some point. Thankfully, the automated machine doesn't accept silver, so we have another coin for the stash. I might make it into jewelry if I ever take another metalworking class.

Yesterday's trip involved running with W. I'm either to old for running or need better shoes.

Last weekend I took a weaving class with [livejournal.com profile] solan_t at the yarn barn. I do not need to spend $1000+ on a nice loom. I have a loom. I do need to sand down some mildewy bits of my loom, but I now know how to string it, and have a few more ideas of what to make on it (though it is limited in capabilities and best used for making rugs). But it is already in my house, and a family heirloom*.

*Yes, I meant the bad pun.

If you need any help just ask, I took a couple semesters of weaving. I actually helped someone in 4H who had a small tabletop loom threaded kinda funky, which was the first time I'd used that knowledge in nearly a decade.

Sounds like a good, busy time. I've decided to start gardening, because I have a small "yard" in which I can plant. I bought some basic tools and about 20 bulbs. Figured I would start there and then use the winter to do more advanced planning. Now the question is finding the driest corner of the space... I feel a bit as if I am sanding down the loom in a metaphorical sense... :D Happy weaving!

Thanks, but I think the class taught me what I needed (and made me do, which is how I actually learn and believe stuff). My loom is very simple - plain weave only.

Mostly I'm lazy (no job to take up most of my time). Planting bulbs sounds good. The first flowers of spring are always my favorite. I should think of where I want some of my own.
