Traveling the Sister Cities
Jan. 16th, 2009 07:54 pmSo Larryville is contemplating another sister city (and by city, we really mean five villages) in Greece by the name of Iniades. Reading the article, I realized I've been there (not surprising, one of the girls I was with had taken the theature class mentioned in the article). Also, previous versions Mad Greek's menu mentioned that the owner came from one of the villages that makes of Iniades.
Realizing that I have a travel addiction and the world is small, I decided to look up Lawrence's other two sister cities, Eutin, Germany and Hiratsuka, Japan.
Never got close to Eutin. On the North Sea coast, not terribly far from Denmark (and I really have trouble not calling it Danemark, thank you historical obsessions).
Hiratsuka is another matter. It is in Kanagawa Prefecture, the same one I lived in for two years. However, it is way over there - on Sagami Bay instead of Toyko Bay (so hard not to call it Sagami Wan/Tokyo Wan). I don't remember ever going there, but I might have ridden a train through there. Or at least gotten close. A shame, not to visit my home town's sister.
